Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the Jungle Raj Wallah Party suffered a “65-volt shock” after the first phase of the Bihar state elections, referring to the record voter turnout, as it concluded its campaign activities before the second phase of polling on November 11.
Addressing rallies in districts including Sitamarhi and Champaran, he thanked women and young voters for “choosing” the NDA in the state. The electoral campaign for the second phase ends on Sunday.
“Bihar has done a fantastic job in the first phase of polls. Raj Wallace’s jungle party has received a 65 volt shock… Everywhere, there is talk that the youth of Bihar have chosen Vikas, they have chosen the NDA. The sisters and daughters of Bihar have also ensured the NDA’s victory,” he said, targeting the NDA and the Congress.
“My campaign may end today…but the youth of Bihar, women, middle class, farmers, rural and urban people – everyone has taken responsibility for the NDA campaign. I can safely say that these elections are not being contested by the NDA, Modi or Nitish Kumar. They are being contested by the people of Bihar,” Modi said.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah also addressed the gatherings in the state.
Shah, who addressed successive rallies in Purnea, Katihar and Supaul, claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav would make Seemanchal district a “den” of infiltrators. He said that the center will identify every illegal immigrant, delete their names from the electoral rolls, and deport them.
Criticizing Gandhi’s ‘voter adhikar yatra’, Shah said: “If you don’t want the infiltrators to decide the next chief minister of Bihar, defeat the RLD and the Congress which brought out the yatra to save them.”
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh accused the Congress of seeking to divide the nation on caste and religious lines. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was targeted over his remarks on Chhath Puja. Rajnath also accused the opposition leader of misleading people with allegations of vote theft.
