Days after a 13-year-old student of Class VIII in Karnataka’s Mysuru suffered serious injuries to his genitals after being assaulted by three of his classmates, the city police have registered a case against the minors, school teachers and the school administration.
The alleged incident took place at a private school in Mysuru on October 24. However, the boy’s father filed the complaint on November 9, a few days after the student underwent surgery at a private hospital.
According to a police officer, the student complained of severe pain on October 26, after which his father transferred him to a private hospital. He was later transferred to another hospital to receive advanced treatment.
According to police, doctors informed the boy’s father that he had to undergo surgery due to damage to his testicles. “There was internal bleeding, and surgery was necessary to save his life. One of his testicles was found permanently damaged,” a police officer said. The surgery was performed on October 28th.
The victim’s mother said, in statements to the media, that the boy told his parents that three of his classmates assaulted him. One of them allegedly hit his genitals with his knees.
The boy’s mother told the media: “My son was the class leader, and the college directed him to monitor the class. My son had complained to the teacher about the misbehavior of his classmates. Later, he was assaulted because of his complaint.”
She claimed that the student had previously complained about these students. “We contacted the class teacher and the school principal to talk to the students. She claimed that they not only ignored (the complaints), but also asked my son to stay away from them.”
