Brian Johnson, an American technology entrepreneur known for his quest to defy aging, recently experimented with magic mushrooms in an attempt to slow down his biological clock. Sharing his experience on social media, Johnson revealed that he took a five-gram dose of the psychedelic drug and felt “so happy to be alive.”
“Yes, this trip has changed me. Maybe not in the way you expect. People assume I’m afraid of death. I’m not. In the darkest days of my depression, I came to terms with death. I need a few days to collect my thoughts,” Johnson wrote on X. In another post, he jokingly added: “Also, lots of love to you all. I strangely feel that my consciousness is deeply intertwined with yours. I feel like family. You’re assholes and you’re also terrible…no, just assholes and mostly terrible. Still love you all anyway.
The next day, Johnson described feeling energetic and mentally active. “Life feels new today. New ideas are flowing. My mind feels smarter and more curious. Did my usual morning routine: light in the eyes, nutritious breakfast, exercise, sauna, red light. Completed some tests: brain scan + blood samples. I will write now.”
Johnson also highlighted the “most satisfying things” he discovered during this process. “One of the most satisfying things I’ve discovered is taking deep, deep breaths. Breathing in the life and nourishment of the body’s needs and desires. I did it over and over again. This substance of being, all around us, was freely available and freely extractable. All you had to do was breathe.”
“At some point, I felt like my whole body was still. I had a clear sense of complete control over my body. As if my heart had stopped. Complete stillness. This was surprising because I was completely in tune with my heartbeat,” Johnson added.
Well, here’s my trip report on 4.67 grams of magic mushrooms and 24.9 mg of psilocybin. Dosage used in recent clinical trials.
First, the experience was exhilarating. Positive in everything. I felt like a child finding and exploring a new playground.
My sensory perception was…

The post quickly gained traction, sparking a wave of reactions. “Wow, Brian. Beautifully written and such a positive thread woven throughout,” one user wrote. “Absolutely insightful and inspiring. And that last line really shocked me. Ironically, the best preparation for death is to live as if you will never die. If life is the end game, it only makes sense to master it and maximize everyone’s well-being, another user commented. Play the long game.”
Before embarking on the trial, the Blueprint founder explained that he planned to take the drug once a month for three months to study its “potential effects on longevity.” He said the process will involve tracking a variety of biological markers, such as DNA integrity, cell aging, metabolism, protein levels, epigenetics, hormones, brain activity, and organic acids.
During the experiment, Johnson’s co-founder, Kate Tullo, took charge of his social media accounts and served as a “flight sitter” to document the experience.
