Chandigarh Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla on Wednesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting with council members, chief engineer and senior officials of the municipal corporation to assess the progress of development work under the allocation of Rs 25-50 lakh per ward. The meeting focused on assessing the status, quality and pace of infrastructure projects and improving civil society across the city.
The mayor stressed that the company’s top priority is to ensure timely completion, transparency and tangible results in each ward. She asked officials to expedite pending works related to repair of roads, sewerage and sanitation systems, street lighting and water supply, to ensure that citizens get visible improvements in their daily lives.
Council members provided detailed updates on ongoing and completed projects, highlighting progress and challenges encountered on the ground. The chief engineer provided a technical overview of the various works, stressing that quality standards and schedules are closely monitored.
The city mayor directed all departments to adopt a proactive approach and called for weekly monitoring, field inspections and submission of follow-up reports to track project performance. She stressed that accountability and coordination between engineering, health and sanitation wings is crucial for effective implementation and public satisfaction.
The Mayor emphasized that development must be citizen-centric, sustainable and inclusive, reflecting the vision of a cleaner, more connected and more liveable Chandigarh. She urged the officers and council members to work collectively to achieve clear results that enhance public confidence in the performance of the municipal corporation.
