

India-Russia Business Forum: Russian President Vladimir Putin is in India on a two-day official visit. He reached New Delhi on 04 December to participate in the 23rd India-Russia Summit. After attending the summit today on December 5, Putin joined the India-Russia Business Forum with Prime Minister Modi. In this meeting at Bharat Mandapam, trade between the two countries was discussed and further strategy was made.
On this special occasion, Prime Minister Modi said that India-Russia bilateral trade target is 100 billion dollars, which we will achieve before 2030. At the same time, Russian President Putin said, “Prime Minister Modi stressed on several occasions in our private conversations that India has huge and growing opportunities in many areas, but till now they have not been utilized as much as both countries want. That is why we called this forum.”
Crossing the target of 100 billion dollars
In this forum, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said something special regarding trade between India and Russia. According to news agency ANI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the India-Russia Business Forum, “President Putin and I have set a target of crossing the target of 100 billion dollars for bilateral trade by 2030.”
He added, “But after my conversation with President Putin yesterday and the prospects we see, I don’t think we have to wait until 2030. We are moving forward with the intention of meeting that goal ahead of schedule, and my confidence is growing. Tariff and non-tariff barriers are being reduced.”
Talks on FTA have started – PM Modi
At the beginning of the India-Russia Business Forum, PM Modi said, “It was very important for President Putin to be a part of this program today with such a large delegation. I welcome you all wholeheartedly. I am very happy to be among you, to be a part of this forum and share my views. I thank my friend President Putin wholeheartedly.”
He further said, “Negotiations on FTA have started between India and the Eurasian Economic Union. Be it business or diplomacy, the foundation of any partnership is mutual trust. This trust is the biggest strength of India-Russia relations.”
India’s IT-Pharma sector occupies a prominent place in the world – Putin
“I would like to emphasize that under the leadership of PM Modi, India is pursuing an independent and sovereign policy and is achieving very good results,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the India-Russia Business Forum held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
He further said, “Today, the Indian economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Because of PM Modi’s good economic policy and major historic initiatives like Make in India programme, India is becoming sovereign in terms of technology. India’s IT and pharma sectors are leading in the world.”
