IndiGo Offers: IndiGo on Thursday announced that it will compensate passengers who were ‘severely impacted’ during the widespread flight disruptions from December 3 to 5. The chaos, caused largely by a major crew shortage that led to heavy airport congestion and long delays, left several travellers stranded for hours.
To make amends, the airline is offering affected customers travel vouchers worth ₹10,000, which can be used on any IndiGo flight over the next 12 months.
IndiGo reiterated on Thursday that customer care remains its “top priority,” noting that most refunds for cancelled flights have already been processed, with the remaining ones expected to be cleared soon. For passengers who booked through travel portals, the airline said refund requests have been initiated and advised travellers to contact customer.experience@goindigo.in if their details are missing from its system.
Acknowledging the severe inconvenience faced by many passengers on December 3, 4 and 5, IndiGo said the ₹10,000 travel vouchers are meant specifically for those who endured the longest delays.
This support comes on top of compensation already required under aviation rules, which mandate payouts of ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 for flights cancelled within 24 hours of departure.
The airline added that it is focused on stabilising operations and restoring normalcy. “We remain committed to offering you the experience you expect safe, smooth and reliable,” the statement said.
India’s largest carrier faced a major meltdown in early December when a staffing crisis led to mass cancellations between December 3 and 9, leaving terminals overwhelmed and thousands of flyers stranded for hours.
The chaos prompted regulatory attention and widespread criticism, following which IndiGo processed refunds and rolled out additional compensation, including ₹10,000 vouchers for the worst affected passengers.
