Symptoms Of High Cholesterol In Hindi: Do you know that your eyes not only do the work of seeing, but also give signals from time to time about major health problems going on in your body?
Especially only your eyes can reveal the initial signs of high cholesterol, which is the biggest cause of heart diseases.
The risk of high cholesterol starts increasing gradually and the body does not show any obvious symptoms in the initial days. But some small changes in the eyes can help you understand whether the cholesterol level in your blood is increasing or not. If these are identified in time, heart attack, stroke and other serious heart diseases can be prevented. Therefore, do not take eye health lightly. This can be your body’s early warning system. Let us know how?
Xythlesma: Yellow soft lumps near the eyes
If small, yellow and soft lumps appear in the corners of your eyes, eyelids or near the nose, it is called xythelasma.
There is no pain in these. It does not cause any problem even in seeing. But it can be a sign of high cholesterol, diabetes or thyroid problem. This problem is especially seen in women above 40 years of age and postmenopausal women.

Corneal arcus: white or gray ring in the eye
If a white or gray ring is seen at the edge of the cornea of the eye, it is called corneal arcus. This is considered normal in people aged 60+ and is not harmful. But if this is seen below the age of 40, it can be a sign of high cholesterol or early heart disease. It does not affect the ability to see, but it is still very important to get a cholesterol test done.
Hollenhorst plexus: yellow shiny crystals in the retina
Sometimes cholesterol crystals form in the small veins of the retina, called Hollenhorst plaques. These are visible only in detailed i.e. dilated examination of the eye. This may affect the light temporarily or permanently. This is a sign that there may be a cholesterol blockage elsewhere in the body. If this happens, it is important to get your eyes and heart checked immediately.
Retinal vascular occlusion: sudden eye problems
Due to increase in high cholesterol, blood clots start forming, which can block the veins of the eyes. This causes two types of problems:
RVO (Retinal Vein Occlusion)
Swelling of the eye veins or cotton wool spots are also its signs. Additionally, you may experience slight blurred vision.
RAO (Retinal Artery Occlusion)
Yellowing of the retina means appearance of cherry-red spots. Apart from this, sudden loss of vision is a major sign of high cholesterol.
Both these situations are medical emergencies.

Why do eyes give signals so quickly?
The nerves of the eyes are very thin and sensitive. Blood flow remains very active in these. Therefore, the effect of cholesterol and blockage starts appearing here most quickly.
Which people have more of this?full of ghee It happens?
Eating too much fatty and fried food, being obese or gaining weight rapidly or having diabetes. Apart from this, less active lifestyle can prove dangerous for postmenopausal women.
What should be done?
If any such change is seen in the eyes, immediately consult a doctor or eye specialist. In such a situation, get a lipid profile test done. Apart from this, reduce oily and processed food in the diet. Exercise for 30 minutes daily and get a complete checkup of heart health.
Eyes are the mirror of our health. High cholesterol often increases without symptoms, but the eyes alert us in time by giving small signals. Ignoring these signs can be dangerous. Therefore, take care of the health of both your eyes and heart.
