Amad Diallo’s disappointment at failing to achieve a fourth successive win was evident as the Manchester United star vowed to keep fighting to get the club back where it belongs.
After a miserable 2024/25 campaign and a slow start to the season, the Red Devils started off with October victories over Sunderland and rivals Liverpool and Brighton.
United started November looking to continue their winning run at Nottingham Forest, but had to settle for a 2-2 draw after squandering the lead given to them by Casemiro from a controversial corner kick.
Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona scored in quick succession early in the second half which ended with Diallo scoring the equalizer with a superb volley and seeing a stoppage-time shot cleared off the goal line.
“Honestly, we are very disappointed to go home with one point,” the Ivory Coast international said.
“We were in a good moment, we won three games in a row. We wanted to achieve the fourth game, but we can learn from this and then try to do better next time.”
Ruben Amorim feels the group have already learned some lessons, with the United boss saying there has been a shift in mentality from a side they would have lost last season in the same circumstances.
“I think winning games always gives players confidence,” Diallo said of their resilience. “Now I think everyone is in good moments.
“As a team, we learn every day with the coach, with Robin, because we believe in his system.
“But I think today we are really disappointed because as a team we are asking too much.”
Diallo is developing well at right-back under Amorim, who took over at the City Ground on the first anniversary of his appointment as United manager.
He told the 23-year-old that the club has come a long way under the Portuguese: “Yes, of course. It was not easy at first for him and for us.”
“But the beginning was the beginning. Now we are trying to understand the system, and trying to do the best in every match.
“We want to win every game because we want to take this club to the level it deserves.”

United have certainly improved this season thanks in no small part to a summer rebuilding process that saw the arrival of the likes of Bryan Mbeumo – a player Diallo links up well with on and off the pitch.
He said about the Cameroonian striker: “I think we have a good relationship, especially because he speaks French.”
“We try to have that relationship, not just on the field but even off the field, to have that connection.
“He’s a good guy, he’s a humble guy, he works hard in training, so we’re trying to give our best on the right side.”
United now turn their attention to next Saturday’s trip to Tottenham, with Diallo saying they “will have to focus until the end” if they are to return to winning ways.
Forest welcome Leeds to the City Ground next Sunday after continuing their Europa League campaign away to Sturm Graz on Thursday, with top scorer Savona seeking further improvement.
“We had a good win over Porto, but now we need to work harder to win more matches in the Europa League and the English Premier League,” the defender said.
“That’s the mentality you have to have.”
