Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakravarthy maintained their top positions in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings for batsmen and bowlers in T20Is respectively, while three Pakistani players made significant leaps after their 2-1 win over South Africa on home soil.
Abhishek tops the list of batsmen with 925 rating points, ahead of England’s Phil Salt and Tilak Verma. India captain Suryakumar Yadav is the only other player from the top 10 squad, sitting at number eight. Spinner Chakravarthy remains at the top while West Indies Akeal Hossein is second. Afghan Rashid Khan rounds out the top three positions, which remain unchanged.
However, there was a change just below them, as Australian Adam Zampa dropped three places from fourth to seventh, giving rise to Sri Lanka’s Wannendu Hasaranga, England’s Adil Rashid and Wasaranga’s teammate Nuwan Thushara. Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood (up two places to 10th) is among the biggest improvers this week on the back of his exploits at home against India.
Chakravarthy is the only Indian to feature in the top 10 in the T20 bowler rankings. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is the only Indian to feature in the top 10 in the overall T20 rankings at number four, which is headed by Pakistan’s Saim Ayyub, followed by Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza and West Indies’ Roston Chase.
Three Pakistan players were rewarded for their efforts against the Proteas, with Babar Azam (up nine places to tie for 30th), Ayub (up 10 places to 39th) and Salman Agha (up 10 places to 54th) all making progress in Abhishek’s list of T20I players.
Pakistan have won as many as four of their five bilateral series in 2025, with their most recent success coming at home against South Africa, registering an impressive 2-1 victory ahead of the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup. West Indies skipper Shai Hope (up two places to 12th), Bangladesh left-hander Tenzid Hassan (up 20 places to 17th) and Afghanistan duo Rahmanullah Gurbaz (up three places to 15th) and Ibrahim Zadran (up six places to 20th) also moved up the ladder for T20I batsmen this week.
