Early estimates of De De Pyaar De 2 collection at first day box office: De De Pyaar De 2, the sequel to Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh’s 2019 romantic comedy De De Pyaar De, has gotten off to a positive start at the box office. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has earned Rs 5.17 crore as of 8 pm on its opening day.
De De Pyaar De 2 recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 10.31% in theaters on Friday – morning shows at 7.46%, afternoon shows at 10.66%, and evening shows at 12.80%, with data for night shows yet to be updated. Chennai recorded the highest occupancy rate of 31.67%.
The rom-com is expected to see an increase in numbers during its opening weekend, driven by positive word of mouth. The first batch saw a similar trend, with their collections doubling after the first day.

Besides De De De Pyaar De 2, Bollywood has seen several other romantic comedy releases this year, including Rajkummar Rao’s Bhool Chuk Maaf, which collected Rs 7 crore on its opening day, Janhvi Kapoor-Sidharth Malhotra’s Param Sundari, which grossed Rs 7.25 crore, and Janhvi Kapoor-Varun Dhawan’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi. Kumari, which opened at Rs 9.25 crore. It will be interesting to see if De De Pyaar De 2 can compete with these films, or even match its first part, which collected Rs 10.41 crore on the first day.

Meanwhile, De De Pyaar De 2 opened to mixed reviews. An excerpt from SCREEN’s review of De De Pyaar De reads, “I really enjoyed the first film because of the novelty factor, as well as the playfulness of Rakul Preeti Singh who balanced out Ajay Devgn’s tough kindness: The presence of Tabu, who plays Devgn’s old love, is added to the film, as always.
