Farah Khan has been working in the film industry since she was 15 years old. Her family suffered a financial crisis During her teenage years when she was… Father Kamran Khan’s film Aisa Bhi Hota Hai failed. This caused her family to suffer severe financial hardship. Despite these challenges, Farah rose through the ranks of the industry, moving from dancer to choreographer and, ultimately, to successful filmmaker. In a recent interaction, Farah spoke about how the insecurity she suffered in her childhood due to facing financial difficulties still drives her to work to this day.
In an interview on Too Much With Twinkle and Kajol, Farah talked about her successful YouTube channel and explained why she chose to work every day, despite her success. “I don’t know where that motivation comes from,” she said. “But I think it’s insecurity. When you don’t have money in your childhood…so I feel like every day I go to work, there will be more money for my kids. That’s basically what it is.”
Farah also shared the example of Akshay Kumar, who has openly stated that he works primarily for financial reasons. “Other than that, I enjoy working and getting out. That’s pretty much what Akshay does. I’m not saying this in a bad way, I admire him. It’s very commendable that when you know you’re doing something and it’s going to bring you this much, and of course, you love the work you’re doing.”
However, Farah’s journey to the top was not without challenges. Like many women in the industry, she has faced her share of harassment. During the interaction, she recalled an incident when a director tried to make advances towards her while she was working on his film as a choreographer. “He came into my room to discuss a song or something while I was in bed, and he sat next to me. I had to kick it out of there,” Farrah recounts. “He was following her no matter what. She had to physically kick him. This happened. I was the witness,” said Twinkle, who was present during the incident.
Farah Khan is known for directing films like Om Shanti Om, Tees Maar Khan and Main Hoon Na.
