When it comes to Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, one thing is for sure – she never minces her words. Known for her outspoken nature and bold statements, Sunita often makes headlines, and this time, it’s no different. Amid persistent rumors of marital discord and break-up, she has sparked a fresh controversy by calling Govinda’s family priest and long-time astrologer a ‘thief’.
In a recent episode of Paras Chhabra’s Abraa Kaa Dabra Show, Sunita alleged that the family priest “keeps suggesting random pujas and taking money”. Her comments quickly went viral, prompting Govinda to issue a public apology to Pandit Mukesh Shukla.
Govinda’s public apology
A few days after the podcast aired, Govinda took to his Instagram Stories to share a video apologizing to Pandit Mukesh Shukla.
In the video, the actor said, “Greetings everyone, I am Govinda and I want to make it clear that our family priest Pandit Mukesh Shukla is a very well known and capable priest. He understands Vedas and astrology. His father, Pandit Jatadhari, was also an integral part of our family. Recently, my wife Sunita Ahuja made critical remarks against you. I feel really ashamed and condemn it.”

He added: “I believe you are one of the simplest men on earth. I still remember how you stood by my side during difficult times. Because of your relationships with many regional politicians, you have often helped make my life easier. I ask you to keep your blessings with us. Thank you.”
What exactly did Sunita say?
During her appearance on Paras Chhabra’s show, the discussion turned to black magic and blind faith. Paras mentioned that someone from another religion had performed a ritual on him, and he did not know who to approach as most astrologers are fake.

Sunita jumped up and said, “There is one like this in our house too!”
She went on to explain: “He is Govinda’s priest. He is fake. He keeps suggesting new rituals and pujas and keeps charging money for them. ‘Yeh puja karao, aur 2 lakh do!'” I have told him several times to do his own puja because his own puja will not help Govinda. I don’t believe in giving away 2 or 10 lakh rupees for so-called rituals.
She added, “It is better to wake up early, pray yourself, and do the puja yourself. How can someone else’s donation or hawan help you? I don’t even allow others to donate on my behalf. I do it myself. I don’t believe in ‘Give us Rs 2 lakh, do this han, and your family will be fine’. Sub chor log hot hai.”
Sunita did not stop there, she also criticized her husband’s inner circle: “Govinda has no good people around him. He is surrounded by idiots who pretend to be writers and advisors. They don’t like me because I speak the truth. All these ‘chamchas’ (sycophants) keep talking against me with him.”
