The work will be carried out by the Hooghly River Bridge Commissioners (HRBC).

What is the closing time?

The closure will continue from 5.00 am to 9.00 pm. Major traffic diversions will be in place, so commuters should plan accordingly.

To avoid Vidyasagar Setu, traffic will be diverted as follows:

• North and eastbound vehicles heading towards Vidyasagar Setu at Turf View will be diverted to Grade Road towards Hastings Crossing.
• Westbound vehicles heading to Kolkata from I&J Island will be routed via St. Georges Gate Road, Strand Road, Howrah Bridge or via Hastings Crossing.
• Southbound traffic on KP Road from J&N Island will be diverted at 11 Furlong Gate towards Red Road and Howrah Bridge.
• Southbound traffic on CGR will be diverted from Children’s Home at the Hastings crossing to St. John’s Road. Georges Gate Road/Red Road towards Howrah Bridge.
• Traffic on KP Road for Gate 11 Furlong should use the T-Point on KP Road and avoid Red Road and Howrah Bridge.

TMC will visit families of those who died due to ‘SIR-related anxiety’

TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has formed teams of party leaders to reach out to the families of those who died due to concern linked to the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal, a party official said on Saturday.

He said that members of these teams have been assigned to visit the affected families starting Friday and provide all possible support in accordance with Banerjee’s instructions.
The party leader said the sensitization exercise aims to ensure that bereaved families receive emotional and logistical support.
The TMC alleged that the panic created by Operation SIR brought by the Election Commission had thrown many people into distress. The BJP rejected the charge as politically motivated.

The teams formed by Banerjee are as follows:

• Family of Late Bimal Santra (Jamalpur):- Narendranath Chakraborty (MLA), Rabi Chatterjee and other local leaders
• Family of the late Sheikh Sirajuddin (Ramnagar): Riju Dutta and local leaders
• Family of Islamic Safiq Safiq (Pinjar): From God + S. Arum Chakraborty
