Kerala Blasters strengthen their semi-final bid with victory over SC Delhi | Football news

Doubles from Koldo Obita (17, 23) and Kuro Singh Thenjojam (34) secured a comfortable victory for the Blasters, who now lead the group with six points from two matches.

The result also confirmed Delhi FC’s elimination from the tournament, while Kerala Blasters strengthened their bid to reach the semi-finals.

For the Blasters, this was another impressive performance as they were disciplined in defence, creative in midfield and ferocious in attack.

David Catala’s men were in complete control of the game from the first whistle. They moved the ball fluidly, pressed high, and stretched Delhi’s five-man backline.

Within minutes, Adrian Luna’s corner kick reached Juan Rodriguez, whose header struck the crossbar, setting the stage for a relentless half. Noah Saadawi looked lively in attack, while Nihal Sudesh’s speed kept the capital team grounded in depth.

Kerala Blasters’ lead came in the 17th minute, and that was it from SC Delhi’s point of view.

Aayush Adhikari played a loose back pass that was easily intercepted by Koldo Obita. The Spanish striker did not make any mistake, as he fired a shot with his right foot past Vishal Yadav, who caught it with his hand but was unable to clear it.

Barely five minutes later, Obita doubled his tally and Kerala Blasters took the lead. A neat passing sequence saw Koro find Nihal, who passed the ball into Obita’s path. The striker got past the Delhi FC defenders and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.

By now, the bombers were running riot. The third goal came in the 34th minute, and it was the winning goal.

Captain Luna sent a wonderful pass into the penalty area, which Kuro Singh met acrobatically and slotted home with his right foot into the far corner. It was a goal that summed up the Blasters’ creative, composed and clinical performance.
