Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025: BJP candidate Maithili Thakur on Friday described her massive lead in Alinagar constituency as a “dream” as the counting of votes for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections was underway. At 4.50pm, Maithili Thakur was leading with 8,601 votes against her nearest rival Binod Mishra of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Election Commission of India’s website showed.
If Thakur, who turned 25 last July, wins, the popular singer will become the youngest member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
“This is like a dream. People have a lot of expectations from me… This will be my first term as an MLA, and I will do my best for my constituency. I will serve my people as their daughter. I can only see Alinagar now and how I can work with them,” Thakur told the media.

Trends suggest that the renewed partnership between the JD(U) and the BJP, buoyed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide popularity, is steering the ruling National Democratic Alliance towards a sweeping mandate of over 243 Assembly seats.
The Alinagar seat was won by Mishri Lal Yadav of Vikashil Insan Party in 2020 by a narrow margin against RJD’s Binod Mishra. Yadav, who later moved to the BJP, was disqualified in May this year after a court conviction in an assault case. In October, Yadav resigned from the BJP, calling it “anti-Dalit”.
