Piyush Goyal directs BMC to undertake resurfacing of Aarey, Vakola and Vikhroli bridges | mumbai news

On Sunday, Piyush Goyal, Union Minister and MP from Mumbai (North), directed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to undertake resurfacing of roads along the Aarey, Vakola and Vikroli bridges to ensure smooth transit for commuters.

In a meeting with senior officials from several agencies, Goyal took stock of several ongoing projects across the city. During the meeting, the union meeting directed the BMC to take initiatives to facilitate the smooth flow of vehicular traffic along the Western Expressway. Addressing the MSRDC-controlled bridges at Aarey, Vakola and Vikroli, Goyal asked the civic body to ensure paving of the roads through resurfacing while also calling for deployment of additional traffic police manpower.

During the meeting, Goyal also took stock of several other issues ranging from implementation of the sewage treatment plant project in Dahisar and Boisar rivers as well as provision of public toilets at eight new sites.

Meanwhile, appraising the beautification work of the city’s lakes, Goyal informed that a detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared for the rejuvenation plan of 10 lakes in the western suburbs. BMC officials said that the project will be implemented on a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The meeting was chaired at the civic body’s central ward office in Borivali, and witnessed the presence of senior officials from BMC including civic chief Bhushan Jagrani, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Western Suburbs), Vipin Sharma, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects), Abhijit Bangar as well as MMRDA chief Sanjay Mukherjee and senior officials from Mumbai Police, MHADA, SRA, Sanjay Gandhi National Park among other authorities.
