“I am very much looking forward to being the new US Ambassador to India. Thank you @POTUSrealDonaldTrump! I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and committed to honoring the faith you have shown in me,” Gore said in a social media post.

India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, congratulated Gore on being sworn in as the new US envoy to India.

“Heartfelt congratulations @SergioGor on being sworn in as US Ambassador to India. Wishing you the best as you prepare to assume your assignment in New Delhi,” he said in a social media post on Tuesday.

President Trump presided over Gore’s swearing-in ceremony attended by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Besent, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro, Senator Lindsey Graham, and Erica Kirk, widow of political activist Charlie Kirk, among other officials and lawmakers.

In October, the US Senate confirmed Gore’s nomination to be the next US ambassador to India. In August, President Trump nominated Gore, who was serving as director of presidential personnel, to be ambassador to India and special envoy for South and Central Asia.

Trump said: “I trust Sergio to help strengthen one of our country’s most important international relationships, which is the strategic partnership with the Republic of India. It’s a big deal. India is home to one of the oldest civilizations in the world… with a population of more than 1.5 billion people.”

He said Gore would be an “excellent” representative of the United States.

“It’s a big deal. Being ambassador to India is a big deal. So, congratulations, Sergio. I know you’ll do a great job,” Trump said.

At his confirmation hearing to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in September, Gore said India is a strategic partner whose course will shape the region and beyond.

Gore said he was committed to promoting America’s interest in this “important” partnership. “Improving US-India trade relations will not only enhance US competitiveness but also reduce China’s economic influence over other countries,” Gore said.
