The SSC also clarified that candidates who exercised the self-selection mechanism were assigned to their preferred examination city and date, although in some cases, the shift may have been changed for operational reasons.
Alternate and default city assignment for some candidates
Candidates who chose alternative cities for the test were allocated centers according to their preferences to the greatest extent possible. For those who did not use the slot selection option, the exam city and date were allocated based on availability.

The authority stated that “most of the candidates were allocated the exam city from among the preferences they provided in the application form.” However, if any candidate from their preferred list is not assigned a city, they can submit an application through the feedback portal on the SSC website by November 8, 2025 (11:00 PM). SSC may reallocate cities depending on slot availability.
New Aadhaar based writer registration and verification
The Commission has introduced a revised procedure for candidates availing the ‘Private Clerk’ facility. As per the new guidelines, all existing clerk registrations have been discontinued and candidates must now complete their new clerk registration through the SSC portal.
Clerk registration is integrated with Aadhaar authentication, making registration mandatory for all clerks using their Aadhaar details. Candidates who wish to use the “Own Scribe” option for the CHSL Tier I 2025 exam must provide their Scribe Registration Number to create an entry pass.
SSC has specified that candidates can appoint One-Time Clerk Registration (OTR) until November 8 (11pm). Admit cards will be generated only for those who successfully complete this process.
