

T20 World Cup: Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced the team for T20 World Cup 2026 on Wednesday (31 December). The command of the team for this mega tournament has been handed over to experienced player Rashid Khan. Many experienced players and many new faces have got a chance in Rashid Khan’s team. Players like off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rehman and all-rounder Gulbadin Naib have got a place in the team. Let us tell you that T20 World Cup 2026 will be played jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The first match will be played on 7 February and the final match on 8 March.

Afghanistan T20 World Cup 2026 team includes Rashid Khan (captain), Ibrahim Zadran (vice-captain), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Ishaq (wicketkeeper), Sediqullah Atal, Darwish Rasooli, Shahidullah Kamal, Azmatullah Umarzai, Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmed, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen Ul. Haq, Fazal Haq Farooqui and Abdullah Ahmadzai.
Afghanistan will play its first match against New Zealand on 8 February 2026 in Chennai. Afghanistan has been included in Pool-D. Apart from Afghanistan, Pool-D includes teams from New Zealand, South Africa, UAE and Canada.
Apart from Fazalhaq Faruqui, off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rehman, all-rounder Gulbadin Naib and right-arm fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq, Afghanistan have expressed confidence in players like Rashid Khan and Abdullah Ahmadzai. It is noteworthy that Afghanistan had reached the semi-finals in the last T20 World Cup. For the first time he had reached the knockout of an ICC tournament.
