After India’s win in the Women’s World Cup 2025, the BCCI announced a cash prize of INR 51 crore for the players, support staff and selection committee. The team will also receive US$4.48 million (around INR 40 crore) as prize money from the ICC.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I congratulate the Indian women’s cricket team on this historic World Championship win,” BCCI President Mithun Manhas said in a statement. “The resilience, talent and teamwork of the team has raised the hopes of our nation. This victory justifies the investment and trust the BCCI has placed in building a world-class women’s programme.”
India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in front of a crowd of 39,555 at the DY Patel Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday. When asked to bat, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led unit scored 298 for 7 and Shafali Verma scored 87 off 78. Led by player of the tournament Dipti Sharma by five wickets, India then bowled out South Africa for 246 despite captain Laura Wolfhardt scoring a century.
“This exceptional achievement is the result of continuous preparation, flawless execution and the unwavering faith of our women cricketers,” BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said. “The coaching staff, support staff and every state association played a role. Congratulations to every member of the team. This team has done the entire cricket team proud.”
India won the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023, but this was the seniors’ first world title. They have twice come close to qualifying, finishing second in 2005 and 2017. India beat Australia in the semi-final at the same stadium to set up a title match with South Africa, which beat England in the other semi-final in Guwahati.
From the squad that won the World Cup, Jemima Rodrigues, Radha Yadav (all West Zone), Shafali Verma, Harleen Deol and Amanjot Kaur (all North Zone) have been named in the Women’s Senior T20 Cup squads starting November 4 in Nagaland. Shafali and Deol have been appointed captain and vice captain of the northern region. They are likely to miss the opening match as the winning Indian team is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on November 5.
