Newly released Jeffrey Epstein documents, including emails from the convicted sex offender, reveal the extent of his relationship with Donald Trump and how it broke down.
On Wednesday, Democrats and Republicans on the House Oversight Committee released documents, including Epstein’s email communications in which he spoke about Trump, Bill Clinton and others.
Epstein denied that Trump would strip him of his Mar-a-Lago membership
according to NBC NewsIn an email to author Michael Wolff, Epstein denied Trump’s claim that he stripped the late financier of his Mar-a-Lago membership because he was “scary.”
“Trump said he asked me to resign, and I was never a member,” Epstein wrote.
“Of course he knew about the girls when he told Ghislaine to stop,” the email continued.
“His business model is to put a name on real estate and get the fees.”
The email exchange also revealed that Epstein was not a fan of Trump’s business practices and even called him “dirty.”
“You see, I know how dirty Donald is,” Epstein told attorney and former Obama White House counsel Kathy Rumler in an email. “I think non-lawyers in the business world have no idea.”
In another email, Epstein accused Trump of using financial tricks to outbid him on a property.
“He doesn’t have the money when he buys the house,” he wrote in a February 2019 email to Wolff.
“His business model is to put his name on a real estate development and get a fee for using his name,” Epstein wrote. “The hotel business is exactly that.”
“Trump has put his name on it, and he gets a 2% fee and maybe a portion of the profit if there is any on the sale. He’s promoting the project as ‘his’… Just as in his current financial statements on file as president, he lists his ‘income’ as the clubs’ total revenues, with no expenses, not his personal revenues. That is, the Doral Golf Club loses money every year. He pays more than he takes in, but lists the revenues as his income. Amazing.”
The brother asked Epstein if Putin had compromising photos of Trump and Clinton
according to NBC NewsIn an email exchange with an anonymous person, Epstein said, “Your world doesn’t understand how stupid he really is. He will blame everyone around him for the bad results,” referring to Trump.
In another email from 2018, released by the House Oversight Committee, Mark Epstein, the late financier’s brother, asked him, “What is your son Donald doing now?”
In the email, Mark Epstein suggested his brother ask if Russian President Vladimir Putin had compromising photos of Trump and Clinton together.
Clinton did not visit Epstein’s island
In a 2015 email to a New York Times reporter, Epstein denied allegations that Clinton visited his private island.
“Clinton was never there, ever,” Epstein wrote.
In an email to Wolff in January 2015, Epstein repeated the same thing and said he had an ex-girlfriend who could confirm that Clinton was never there — and who could also refute claims that former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak was on the island.
