“Worrying if it was an act of terrorism”: Islamic bodies demand a comprehensive investigation into the car explosion in Delhi | Lucknow News

Major Muslim organisations, such as the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and Jamaat-e-Islami India (JIH), on Tuesday expressed concern over the car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort and demanded a “thorough investigation” into the incident.

AIMPLB Chairman Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, in a statement, said that if the explosion was an act of terrorism, it is extremely worrying and raises serious questions about the effectiveness of the country’s security agencies.

He expressed his “deep sadness” over the incident, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Rahmani urged the government to conduct a “comprehensive, impartial and multidimensional investigation” into the incident, and said that if the incident was accidental, it was very unfortunate. “But if it is an act of terrorism, it is very worrying and raises serious questions about the effectiveness of the country’s security services – since even the most sensitive areas of the national capital are not safe,” Rahmani said.

He also added that in this hour of trial and grief, AIMPLB stands in solidarity with the bereaved families and prays for the early recovery of all those affected.

The JI also demanded a “transparent, high-level investigation and immediate accountability” for the security lapses, and adequate compensation to the victims and their families.

In a statement, JIH Chairman Syed Sadatullah Al-Husseini said: “Initial media reports indicate that this may have been an act of terrorism. If the investigating agencies confirm this, we unequivocally condemn this heinous act and demand that the perpetrators be brought to justice as soon as possible. Such an incident in the heart of the national capital represents a serious lapse in security. There must be immediate accountability from those in power responsible for public safety. The lives and security of citizens are of utmost importance, and there must be immediate accountability by those in power.” Authority and those responsible for public safety, and the government must fulfill its constitutional duty to protect them.”

Al-Husseini also criticized certain sectors of the media and social media users, saying: “In hours of crisis, we need unity and solidarity among citizens more than ever. Those who use such despicable events for their ideological or political gains must be called out and punished according to the law.”

Al-Husseini called for tightening penalties on the perpetrators and holding those responsible for these security lapses accountable at the highest levels.

Al-Husseini added: “Terrorism cannot be an expression of any religion, it is its betrayal. Every act of violence, under any banner, deserves the same categorical condemnation. Let people of all beliefs unite now to confront extremism, reject hatred, and work together to root out the causes and networks of terrorism. Only a united society can protect the country’s pluralism, peace and future.”
